On Dec 6th, National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women, we remember women and girls who have been murded by men. Many women and girls are targeted by violence because of their gender.
Please join us for a Candlelight Vigil at 6:30 PM Springvalley Elementary.
We will walk to the Mindy Tran Memorial for a rose dedication ceremony followed by a short program featuring Kim Pate, Executive Director of the Canadian Association of Elizabeth Fry Society.
Kim Pate is an internationally recognized advocate for women. She was honoured with a Governor General’s Award this October for her contribution toward advancing women’s equality in Canada.
This year, the vigil is being sponsored by the Central Okanagan Elizabeth Fry Society in partnership with the following organizations:

Awareness buttons are now available. Suggested donation is $2 to $20 in support of the vigil. Buttons are available at the John Howard Society One Cup at a Time Cafe, the Elizabeth Fry Society, as well, our volunteers will be outside of Save on Foods on November 26th, 27th, and December 3rd and 4th collecting donations.
